Questions

Good for a honeymoon or anniversary?

Absolutely. The reserve is booked for sole use, so there is no one else on site for the whole of your stay. Flowers, a chilled bottle on arrival or a private chef can be arranged with notice.

How far from Cape Town?

About 190 km, roughly two and a half hours on the N1 and R60 through Worcester and Robertson into Montagu. The reserve is five kilometres from town on the R318.

We are flying into Cape Town. How do we get there?

Hire a car at the airport and drive. It is tar all the way to Montagu on the N1 and R60, then five kilometres on the R318 and a short stretch of dirt road at the end. No 4x4 needed in dry weather. We send a pin and directions with your confirmation.

Does load shedding affect the stay?

No. The whole site runs on solar, so the lights, the hot water and the wifi carry on regardless of what the grid is doing.

Is there a private jacuzzi?

Yes, on the deck, heated by firewood and not shared with anyone else. Firewood is included in the stay.

How many bedrooms and bathrooms?

Two bedrooms and two indoor bathrooms, plus an outdoor shower on the deck.

Do we need a 4x4?

No. The last stretch is a dirt road and an ordinary car manages it comfortably in dry weather. There is free, secure parking at the tent.

Is it safe out there on your own?

It is a working family farm with a gated entrance and secure parking at the tent. The farm is a few minutes away and reachable at any hour if you need anything.

Is there wifi and hot water?

Yes to both, with the whole site running on solar power.

Is it self catering?

Yes, with a full kitchen, gas hob, fridge, crockery and glassware, and a braai with firewood provided. Montagu is five kilometres away for supplies.

When should we come?

Spring and autumn are the most comfortable. Summer is hot and dry, and winter nights are cold and very clear, which is when the fire and the heated jacuzzi come into their own.
